Art Crawls and Farmers Markets

This past weekend has been very busy! Not only did I have an opening for my first solo show, I also helped kids create cyanotypes for the first time at the Ruston Farmers Market.

The first ever Ruston Art Crawl was a success! It is really awesome that there is an opportunity for the community to get involved and experience local art. Here is a photo from opening night! It was such an amazing experience to get to talk to people about my prints and tell them about my process of printmaking. Henry, Amanda, and everyone at the Fine Line Print Lab did an amazing job as hosts of this event. I'm so honored that they asked me to be their first artist at the art crawl! Go check out their store and Stitchville, it's prettty great. Other venues for artists include The Frame of Mind, Pastry Moon, Makers Union, P.A.I.R. Gallery, and the Piney Hills Gallery.

From Saturday, here is an image of one of the cyanotypes the kids at the farmers market created. It was pretty cool to teach kids and their parents about a process they had previously not been exposed to. I used pre-coated paper and got the kids to go pick plants they thought were interesting and we made compositions based off of what they collected.

MURAL TIME

Once again! I'm getting the privilege to work on another mural!

Two years ago my professor, Nick Bustamante, got the opportunity to paint a mural in Homer, Louisiana. The next year he got the opportunity to paint a second mural. And here we are, the third year Nick has been approached to not only execute painting the mural, but to design it as well. He selected myself, Whitney Causey, Jenni Claire Nasser, Mike Nelson, Beth Dixon, and Jessie Suggs to undertake this adventure with him. We are at least half way through this project with a month and a half to go! The mural is located on the side of Luna Blue Yoga Center on Desird in Monroe, LA.

here are some images of the progress!
